The Financial Planner

Welcome to the Financial Planner Blog!

Welcome to The Financial Planner blog!  I will be sharing financial planning ideas and strategies with individual investors. If you find this information pertinent, I will have succeeded in my mission. I will also help keep you informed when laws change and new planning ideas come to the fore.  At Allodium, we want you to know about smart strategies for your money.

The team at Allodium wanted me to share a little bit about how I came to be in the financial planning and investments business. It really came down to bad advice, or I should say, no advice. I was a single working woman for many years with no real clue about my money. I engaged investment advisors and I paid for financial plans more than a few times.  Do you think these folks paid any attention to my real need for sound financial advice? Unfortunately, they did not. They put me in some investments that paid them a commission or fee and moved on to the next client. I remember having to track them down every year just to have a conversation about my investments.

Then in 2008 the market and the economy crashed. The money I had built up was now a lot less. I certainly wasn’t getting any younger, so I decided to take things into my own hands. I set out to become a financial advisor to help myself become a smarter investor and to help others who may also have been underserved. I would be able to use my many years of business experience and the knowledge I had gained from my legal education. Turns out I had found my calling.

I started my advisory career in 2009 with the approach that my clients and I were a team working to arrive at the best possible financial decisions for their future. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with many wonderful clients facing major life events like retiring, selling a business, moving on from divorce, dealing with a death, or sending kids to college. It seems that every major life event has a financial component to it where teamwork and sound advice can really make a difference.

I hope you enjoy the blog.  If you have questions or suggestions for topics, please let me know.  I look forward to keeping our Allodium community well informed.
